A tale of blood, broken dreams, and buried secrets.
Sixteen-year-old Rebecca is mourning her boyfriend Alastair, who died in tragic circumstances. She struggles without him on a daily basis, but only she knows the full extent of her aching loss. Their relationship had been a secret, and she feels she will betray Alastair if she reveals it.
Rebecca turns to her best friend Calum, but he's Alastair's brother and unaware of the relationship too. When Calum and Rebecca unearth a buried suitcase in an icehouse in the small northern Scottish village of Cromarty, it leads to a series of unexpected and intriguing discoveries.
A 19th century diary written in code by sixteen-year-old Martha also hides secrets. As Rebecca and Calum try to solve the mystery behind their finds, at first they grow closer, but then their relationship faces increasing hurdles. Is there anyone without a secret that we hide from the world?
Is it better to hold a secret close, or crack open your heart and let the light shine in, allowing others to help share your burden?
