Hunter’s Station marked an exciting new direction in my writing journey, focusing on my growing interest in young adult fiction.

Although it was written with young, or 'new' adults in mind, it was always my intention to create a story that adults could equally connect with and enjoy.

Hunter’s Station explores themes of grief, isolation, resilience, and the search for purpose in the face of overwhelming circumstances. I wanted to capture the emotional struggles of my central character, Jacob, confronting loss and loneliness while balancing those deeper themes with the intensity, suspense, and fast-paced action that drive the story forward.

This was my first novel written entirely in the first person, and I found the experience incredibly rewarding. While I had read plenty of first-person narratives, it was only when I began writing Hunter’s Station that I truly appreciated how different the process was as an author. The introspective nature of this style really allowed me to focus more closely on Jacob’s emotional journey, providing a deeper understanding of his thoughts, fears, and struggles throughout the story.

I have been fascinated by post-apocalyptic fiction for many years, and I felt it was time to create my own vision of what life might look like if the world as we know it collapsed. I hope my readers find it cautionary, confronting, yet very entertaining.

About The Author

Gary Lonesborough.png

Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Max Jeffries has always been fascinated by storytelling. After years of balancing life, study, and a career, he finally brought one of his long-held ideas to life with his debut novel, Altered Sense.

Since then, Max has continued to explore the darker side of human nature through fast-paced crime thrillers, suspense, and speculative fiction. His novels are driven by complex characters, high stakes, and the questions that emerge when ordinary people are placed in extraordinary situations.

For Max, writing is more than creating stories—it is about crafting immersive worlds that keep readers turning pages long after the first chapter. His goal is simple: to deliver fast-paced stories filled with suspense and intrigue.

Max lives in Sydney with his wife and son. When he isn’t writing, he enjoys spending time with his family, discovering new stories, and continuing the search for his next book idea.
