DG Rampton's Isadora: A Duke's Obsession, the second book in the Taming of the Dukes series, is a charming blend of Regency romance, adventure, mystery, and humour that transports readers far beyond London's ballrooms to the vibrant landscapes of India and the high seas.

The story begins in Calcutta, where Miss Isadora Jones, once London's celebrated beauty and society darling, stumbles across a dead body at Government House. The victim's connection to the Ottoman slave trade places Isadora in unexpected danger, and before she can fully comprehend the situation, she finds herself under the protection of the enigmatic Felix Wallace, a brooding war hero determined to keep her safe.

As the family journeys from Calcutta to the cooler mountain kingdom of Sikkim, Felix remains constantly at Isadora's side. His mission is complicated by a secret he desperately tries to ignore: he has fallen hopelessly in love with her. Isadora, adventurous, intelligent, and endlessly curious, finds herself equally drawn to Felix, though neither is willing to admit their feelings.

Rampton creates wonderful chemistry between her leads. Isadora is a refreshing heroine whose optimism and knack for finding trouble contrast perfectly with Felix's serious, protective nature. Their slow-burn romance unfolds through mountain treks, dangerous encounters, storms at sea, and a series of increasingly complicated situations that test both their patience and their hearts.

The novel's greatest strength lies in its balance of humour and adventure. The banter between Isadora and Felix is delightful, while the supporting characters add warmth and entertainment. Particularly enjoyable are the matchmaking efforts of Isadora's sister Emmaline and Felix's sister Georgiana, who recognise the obvious attraction between the pair long before the couple themselves.

Inspired in part by the journals of Lady West and historical accounts of the Ottoman slave trade, the novel incorporates fascinating historical elements without losing sight of its romantic focus. These details provide an engaging backdrop to a story filled with exotic locations, memorable characters, and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.

Entertaining, adventurous, and wonderfully romantic, Isadora: A Duke's Obsession is a thoroughly enjoyable historical romance. Isadora and Felix are charmingly frustrating protagonists whose journey keeps readers invested from beginning to end, making this a worthy addition to the Taming of the Dukes series.

About The Author

Gary Lonesborough.png

Bestselling author DG Rampton loves to create feel-good romantic comedy, featuring intelligent heroines, dashing men and sparkling banter.

An engineer by training but a romantic by nature, she left behind her corporate career to follow the call of her artistic inclinations and write stories that bring joy and laughter into people's lives. She has a penchant for gastro-dining, French comedy and theoretical physics, and when not immersed in the fictional worlds she creates has been known to dabble in extreme property makeovers that send her family batty. After being honoured with an interview on ABC radio’s Nightlife show, to delve into the ins and outs of being a romance author, she ended up having so much fun that “radio jockey” is now on her career wish-list.

Her historical romance novels hit the #1 spot on several Amazon charts and have since been regularly in the top 20 for Historical Romance, and Humour and Satire. Her new contemporary British RomCom, EARL TANGLED WITH STAR is winning five star reviews and giggles internationally as it marches up the charts.

To her way of thinking, there's no better job in the world than making people smile.
