Australian Federal Police Officer Brian Andersen’s life gets turned upside down when he intercepts calls from a large passenger jet that goes missing with hundreds of people on board.

To investigate, he is paired with the smart and beautiful elite investigator Elsie from the police Specialist Response Group. Brian and Elsie grow increasingly close throughout the course of the investigation, but they each tackle the case from a very different angle.

Events quickly take a sinister turn in his hometown of Sydney when an academic’s husband is stabbed to death in his own property. His wife is the main suspect, but Brian and Elsie both believe that she is innocent and that the motive is somehow linked to the plane disaster.

When a young man who specialises in cryptography is found murdered in a bizarre manner not long after, the only clue is his interest in a medical woman who is not who she appears to be.

Elsie grows increasingly concerned that even larger crimes are planned and that the events are part of a terrifying web of terror. Time proves her to be correct.

The time to act is now, but it is running out fast.

Clare Anne McGrory’s exciting new mystery thriller set in Sydney challenges what we think we know about our top establishments’ degree of knowledge or control over our society and what lies ahead for all of us. A Breath of fresh air in Australian crime fiction.

In a genre often dominated by foreign crime detectives and agents, Clare Anne McGrory delivers an initially slow-burning, and emotionally charged literary thriller that soon leads to fast-paced action and explosive revelations. Best of all, it is all set in Australia. This is not just another story of excitement about a distant land, it is about the here, the now, and the soon to be tomorrow. Topical, and yet sensitive to the very similar and real threats emerging all around our world right now, those drawn to embrace both the deeply personal, and the wider political picture, will find that this novel strikes a rare and resonant heart-felt chord.

A story told with presence of mind, the novel opens just as a central tragedy is beginning to unfold: the shock loss of a large passenger airliner. Finding out why it all happened, takes the reader on a journey in which they will enjoy the kind of suspense that seeps under the skin, and will be lingering on in their minds long after the final page is closed.

The romance that grows in the midst of it all. At the heart of the novel is the burning attraction between Australian Federal Police Officer Brian and the elite female officer Elsie he gets partnered with to solve this perplexing mystery.

More than just a mystery: A journey into the exploration of our own identity and it’s complex interplay with real international power For fans of smart, socially aware thrillers, The Sky’s Edge will be a fascinating read. It will likely be the most exciting Australian mystery you read all year.
