The final instalment of the trilogy brings Bruce Hudson’s story to a breathtaking and spiritual conclusion.

Seeking a final, lasting peace in the remote and rugged Coen bushland of Cape York, Bruce is instead confronted with the visceral weight of a devastating secret buried deep in his family tree. The land remembers every act of violence, and visions of a past torment that Bruce cannot outrun. When a fresh tragedy strikes and he is once again accused of murder, Bruce faces an impossible choice. He must decide whether to spend his days in a final, lonely exile or stand and fight for the dignity of his bloodline one last time.

The arrival of Bruce’s long-lost brother, Brian, further complicates an already volatile situation. Brian was raised in Sydney, disconnected from his culture and mob. His return to Country sparks a confrontation between lived experience and inherited identity. Meanwhile, Bruce’s daughter, Irene, walks a fragile line between her traditional kinship obligations and her lingering resentment towards the father who once betrayed their people. As the family fractures under the weight of old truths, Bruce withdraws from society. He spends forty days alone in the wilderness, surviving on ancestral skills passed down through generations, and emerges physically weakened but spiritually transformed.

When Bruce disappears into the wild’s smoke and silence, leaving only ghost stories, the task of uncovering the truth falls to his grandson, Justin. Now a man seeking his own straight path, Justin must dive deep into the heart of the Cape to find the man who has become a legend of the scrub. Bloodlines is a powerful meditation on generational trauma and the enduring strength of Indigenous culture. It asks whether a man defined by a single catastrophic mistake can ever truly come home, and whether healing can be found where history and memory refuse to stay buried.

In the end, it is a journey into the very soul of the outback, where not every spirit rests, and the truth is the only thing that can set a bloodline free.
