Power can be absolute. Prophecy can be binding. But the fate of the Planes may rest with two heroines too stubborn to yield.
Esme has always felt like an outsider, especially under the care of her intimidating adoptive father and his seemingly flawless daughter. But when she is torn from Earth and thrust into the Celestial Plane – a realm of starlight and shadow, danger and prophecy – that feeling becomes reality. Here, she has no memories. No powers. No place. And yet, she is discovering that her fate may be tied to this realm more than she knows.
Stranded in a world where humans are prey, Esme must navigate treacherous politics, unravel secrets buried in myth and confront creatures older than time itself. Alliances will shift and betrayals will cut deep. But against every warning, a fragile spark begins to burn – a slow, dangerous romance that could turn into salvation… or ruin.
Can Esme unlock the truth of her past before it destroys her future? Or will the veils between worlds tear apart and take her with them?

About The Author

Hannah Kristen is an Australian fantasy author who writes emotionally driven stories blending romance, myth and power. She began writing at sixteen, completing the first draft of what would later become the History of the Fallen series. Her books are inspired by a lifelong love of fantastical worlds and complex characters.
Years later, Hannah returned to the story with a renewed perspective informed by a bachelor degree in Social Science and Human Behaviour, postgraduate study in Art Psychotherapy and more than a decade of specialist practice in mental health. With this, she reshaped her story into a debut novel, Veils of the Fallen, the first in a trilogy.
Outside writing, Hannah is a qualified therapist who leads a national psychoeducational program supporting students’ mental health and wellbeing in schools. Her role includes developing and delivering large-scale educational initiatives, speaking at national forums and in media, and authoring widespread mental health resources for young people, adults and professionals. This background allows Hannah to use her fantasy worlds to explore themes of trauma, resilience and emotional fortitude with care and authenticity.
Inspired by her work with individuals navigating trauma and recovery, she writes to showcase how self-efficacy can be quiet, recovery is rarely linear and even in the aftermath of trauma, people can reclaim agency.
