Whispers Beyond the Peaks — A Quiet Little Rebellion is a young adult verse novel of 66 chapters, written in free-style narrative poetry.

Blending storytelling with spiritual allegory, it follows one young girl's journey beyond the boundaries of her known world — and beyond the inherited limitations she carries about herself.

Sara lives in a valley where mountains guard every horizon and conformity shapes every life. She is clumsy, curly-haired and curious — a girl who asks too many questions in a place that has little patience for them. Her curiosity is met with silence, her longing with dismissal, and her difference with quiet ridicule. Sara begins to wonder whether there is something wrong with her.

When Sara encounters Para, a woman of luminous calm living freely beyond the valley's edge, everything shifts. Para tells her of a wise old man who lives in a cave beyond the peaks, a keeper of magical glasses said to change a person from the inside out. For Sara, wishing she could be different — taller, straighter, prettier and quieter — the promise of those glasses feels like the answer she has been seeking.

So she goes. Alone.

What follows is a journey both outward and inward. Sara crosses wild rivers, climbs mountains in darkness and navigates forests, guided by glow-worms, nature and an inner trust in herself.

When she finally meets the wise old man and receives the glasses, she discovers they are not enough. True transformation requires a deeper journey through sacred stations. Each encounter offers a lesson: a bonsai tree teaches that wisdom is not measured by height; a cave of crystals reveals how loss can make space for something greater; mountains mirror her crooked tooth as part of a perfect design; a river shows her that her curly hair was never wild, but simply finding its own way; weeds reveal sacred geometry; a dewdrop holds an entire universe; and a hive of bees carries ancient wisdom of the sacred feminine.

At every station, Sara sheds another layer of inherited limitation — shame, self-doubt, comparison and the weight of other people's expectations. What begins as a quest to change herself gradually becomes a journey of remembering who she has always been.

Whispers Beyond the Peaks is an adventure story, a meditation on self-worth and identity, and a spiritual text. Readers familiar with Sufi tradition may recognise echoes of Ibn Arabi's stations of the heart, while those drawn to Kabbalistic thought may find universal law woven through the story.

At its heart, this is a book about a question many young people carry: Am I enough? It offers a gentle invitation to look beyond comparison and inherited beliefs and discover that transformation begins not by becoming someone else, but by recognising the light already within.

Written for young adults aged 12 and above, and for adults who remain young at heart, Whispers Beyond the Peaks speaks to anyone who has ever felt too much, too little, too wild or simply not enough.

She believes some of life’s most meaningful lessons can be shared through stories. Drawing from her own experiences of self-discovery and personal growth, Param writes stories that explore courage, kindness, resilience, belonging and the quiet wisdom we can discover within ourselves.

Whispers Beyond the Peaks – A Quiet Little Rebellion is her second book, following her debut The Master’s Wisdom.
